Talking Therapies
Talking through your experience with a qualified perinatal therapist can help you make sense and understand different elements of your journey. We work in an integrative way, coming from a person-centred approach, going at your pace with what feels right for you. By using an integrative approach we can draw upon and use different techniques, modalities and methods, including validating your experiences, to help you reach your goals and your full potential.

BTR REWIND
The Rewind Technique was developed as part of the Human Givens Institute of Psychotherapy is a non-intrusive, safe and highly effective way to support people with traumatic memories. The technique has been developed, and grown through Birth Trauma Resolution’s approach to providing interventions for those who have experienced Birth Trauma. Over the last 12 months we have trained with Birth Trauma Resolution – the UK’s leading Birth Trauma Practitioner Program. With a high success rate, this type of therapeutic intervention places you in a deep state of relaxation which is essential to prevent any risk of deepening the emotional trauma pattern from your birthing experience instead of neutralising it.
Alongside this, during your therapy you’ll have opportunities for growth and healing by using the tools you have available that you may or may not know you already had.
Deep Relaxation
Guided Imagery
Tools to help you outside of sessions

Therapeutic Nervous System Work
Our Nervous System Practitioner has been trained through the Nervous System School with leading trauma, neuroscience and nervous system expert Jessica Maguire.
We work through a nervous-system-informed lens, meaning we not only listen to the words you’re sharing with us, but we listen to what your body is telling us too. We work with your nervous system states such as Fight, Flight, Fawn, Freeze or Collapse to understand how your brain and your body have responded to the chronic stress or trauma of your birthing experience. Sometimes we can get stuck in one of these states, or oscillate between a few of them and this causes what is known as dysregulation. When we’re dysregulated this can impact both our mental and physical health. Once we know what state or states you may be stuck in, we can work to help you widen your Window Of Regulation (a place where you feel calm and safe), and move out of the nervous system states you’re stuck in. We’ll work to map your nervous system & help you move more freely throughout those states (the aim isn’t to always be calm.), work with any limiting beliefs you may have around your birth experience, help you connect and have a deep understanding of your interoceptive system, provide you with science-backed education, give you a variety of tools that can help you outside of sessions and throughout your life and help you discharge any lasting trauma imprints on your nervous system whilst relocating those memories or experiences to the part of your brain where they can feel safer & the distressing elements are removed.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy treatment used to treat symptoms of chronic stress & Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that occur after a difficult or distressing life event. EMDR can help you process negative images, emotions, beliefs or bodily sensations that you may have as a result of your birthing experience.
It combines talking therapy with a structured intervention which gets you to move your eyes from side to side, hearing an alternating sound in your ears, or feeling an alternate tap on your hand mimicking REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, whilst reprocessing your distressing memories.
The aims of EMDR are to help your brain process what happened, relieve symptoms that you may be suffering with such as flashbacks, see things from a different perspective and process the event in a natural way.
